Lipo is Culture

by Dr Jimenez Toribio

Liposuction is one of the five most demanded cosmetic surgeries in the world. It consists of the removal of fat deposits in certain parts of the body: hips, thighs, abdomen, calves, dewlap, among others. It is ideal for those people who are in shape but cannot eliminate certain localized fat; and it is that, sometimes, exercising daily and eating in a balanced way is not enough.

Liposuction, (also known as: lipoplasty, liposculpture, lipovaser, lipolaser, or assisted suction lipectomy) is one of the most effective and safest interventions. In addition, its recovery is very fast and the results can be seen in just days.

Those who question aesthetic medicine have created a whole series of myths about it. For example, liposuction is said to produce a rebound effect. That is false. When lipo is practiced, the accumulated fat adipocytes are aspirated and once aspirated they do not reproduce again. What can happen is that the patient gains a lot of weight and stops taking care of himself.

Another myth is that liposuction leaves unsightly scars. It is normal that after the intervention bruises and a certain degree of inflammation appear, but these will disappear in a short period. Likewise, any scars that may remain will become imperceptible over time. This logically, after a correct postoperative period and good practice. Hence the importance of selecting a certified and qualified surgeon.

The lipo was a boom in the 90s and since then its demand has been maintained, as well as the aesthetic criteria of beauty that refer to the thinness and slenderness of the bodies have been maintained.

And it is that liposuction – and plastic surgery in general – came to provide an answer to aesthetic ailments that may seem minuscule to some but actually impair the quality of life of others. Liposuction is a window into the happiness of those who insist on fitting into certain social standards of beauty.
Thus, as Jorge Arturo Díaz Reyes intelligently defined it in the Colombia Plastic and Reconstructive Magazine: Lipo is Culture.

Why does cosmetic surgery enhance sexuality?

by Dr Jimenez Toribio

Self-esteem and pleasure go hand in hand. So much so that self-esteem can often be a trigger for full sexuality; and it is that a woman with high self-esteem will give the subconscious a clear message: that she, and her whole body, are capable of pleasing and being pleased, of offering love and of loving, of desiring and being desired.

For this reason, a woman’s sexuality is activated and enhanced after cosmetic surgery, since it contributes to the strengthening of her self-esteem by allowing her to look more beautiful, more sensual, closer to her dream body ideal.

Body image powerfully determines a woman’s level of sexual satisfaction. This was revealed by a study carried out at the University of Vigo, through which it was found that the greater the body dissatisfaction, the less sexual activity.

Therefore, a woman who can show off her perfect bust thanks to a mammoplasty, or a flat abdomen after a tummy tuck and even, voluptuous buttocks as a product of a BBL will always be a confident woman with high self-esteem. It does not matter age, creed or social class.

And is that self-esteem is the perception we have of our capabilities, what we think and feel about ourselves, the idea we have of what we are worth as people and how we look against the current standards of beauty.

Hence, in the sexual sphere, self-esteem exercises great power, since it means the appreciation we have of our own sexual capacity.

So do what you have to do. Train, eat healthy, go to the beauty salon and bet on cosmetic surgery if that were necessary. Become the woman you always wanted to be. Make your life a dream and your dream a reality. And then? Do it with light on.

Plastic surgery is not a risk, the risk is to live complexed

by Dr Jimenez Toribio

Show off a perfect nose, a breast augmentation or a rejuvenated look is possible thanks to plastic surgery.

It is increasingly common – especially among women – to achieve the dream look by entering an operating room; The best thing is that cosmetic surgery not only guarantees beauty but also security and self-esteem, aspects that translate into a happier life for the patient.

The concept “plastic surgery” comes from the Greek “plastikos” which means to mold. Although it is a modern term, it is actually an old-time practice.

The first to use it for aesthetic purposes were the Romans, who with surgeries removed the so-called “marks of shame”. These were nothing more than scars from the slave men or warriors who had turned their backs on some battle.

The Hindus also used it. They reconstructed the ears and noses that were cut as punishment for the adulterers or criminals of the time. But in reality, limb reconstruction surgical techniques reached their strongest point during World War I and World War II. It was since then that society began to see this medical specialty with better eyes.

Today, despite high demand and advanced technology that has allowed the total restoration of facial or body defects as well as the reconstruction of body parts with absolute success, there are still detractors of this medical practice. This minority insists on highlighting the alleged harmful effects of plastic surgery and highlights – among them – the risk of death. What these people do not understand is that patients do not operate on a whim but seeking quality of life.

Someone whose existence is marked, determined or conditioned by a physical defect has low self-esteem, and that has a series of implications that range from: depression to eating disorders and in the most extreme situations, suicide.

So, although some may not understand it, plastic surgery has become a true blessing for millions of people. The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reports annual increases globally in all surgeries. Breast augmentation with implants ranks first, it is the most demanded procedure and by the end of 2019 it had reported a growth of 6.1% over the previous year. Other surgical procedures that were triggered were liposuctions and abdominoplasties, both with an increase of more than 9%.

Although the application of botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid fillers have also been taking flight year after year.

What if there are risks? Yes there are. But they are generally associated with medical malpractice. Hence, the selection of the surgeon is of vital importance. It is necessary to be a certified and qualified professional. The patient should search for references. How did it go in previous surgeries? What fame does it have? What is your specialty? This factor, together with healthy and correctly evaluated patients, can only lead to the following result: a successful surgery, be it reconstructive (health problems) or merely aesthetic.

The truth is that the positive impact of plastic surgery on human life is unstoppable and unquestionable. Thanks to this medical specialty: patients with mastectomies manage to rebuild the lost breast; people who have lost part of their face due to an accident, cancer or burn can be successfully treated; ladies complexed by breast hypertrophy, or flat buttocks, among other defects, can regain confidence and security, as well as improve their sexuality, thanks to increasingly natural results.

Taking care of the body and beautifying it is not a sin. That must be made clear. On the contrary. God blessed us by giving it to us and our task is to take care of it. I quote this biblical reference below:

Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you and whom you have received from God? You are not your own owners; They were bought for a price. Therefore honor God with your body. (1 Corinthians 6: 19-20)
